Thanks so much for all of your encouraging comments on yesterdays picture of my bride!! I am really blessed to have such a supportive community of friends here at Am3.
And just to say to all of you who asked about the nerves.....I still get nervous before every wedding....especially at the crunch shots (the kiss, the rings etc) I am so scared to miss them!!! hahahaha. Maybe after I've done a hundred or so it will be less stressful. Somehow I doubt it though, because with a wedding (as in life, I suppose) there are no do-overs!!! hahaha
I have never seen this from any of the grooms I have photographed before and I feel so thrilled to be able to share it with you. The groom, Dean, was so moved that he had tears in his eyes...Can you see them glistening?
Now that is something special to be part of!
I took the pictures in the church using an ISO of 1600 so that I could get away without using the flash...hence the grain, but I really didn't want to harden the light as the chapel was just so beautiful and I think it adds a little something extra...more mood perhaps?

Wonderful shot! At the right moment! I definitely won't mind the noise and rather get the shot perfect than reduce the noise.

@tyan: Hey Tyan!!! Thanks so much - I know it was a first for me...I definitely think their story would be worth listening to.:)
Gosh Mandy, you can really see the love light in his eyes, beautifully captured. This couple look like a match made in heaven so very wonderful to see :)

@MaryB: Thanks so much MaryB..... I'm sure the angels were smiling about this one!! :) God is good and it's so great to see His love in the eyes of those around us.
Very nice capture, Mandy. He's a special one, all right. Once in a while there is a groom who reacts with tears of love and joy. These, I figure, are the ones who are most likely to last in their marriage together.

@Lorraine: It's always a pleasure Lorraine.... Stay well :)
This portrait has a warmth about it due to the way you caught the groom in that moment, as well as the warmth of the light from not using the flash. Well done. This looks remarkably clean on my supersharp flat screen for a 1600 ISO shot. Is this from a RAW file or a jpeg? If you used RAW, I'd like to know which RAW converter you used, as it looks so good.

@Andrew Gould: Hey Andrew. Thank you so much!! Your comments are always so encouraging!!! This was a jpeg file - I must say that I have never shot anything in RAW......I wasn't sure what the results would be. And to send your question back to you - what would you use to convert it? Do you need special software? I'm a major amateur when it comes to file formats etc.....I shoot everything as jpeg!!! :)
Such emotion! Great capture and lighting

hehe.. doesn't matter how many you do, the nerves will always be there. :-) I remember everytime I went for weddings I would have butterflies in my stomach.. even after doing for a couple of years! This is truly a priceless image! Don't you love it when moments like that occur??! It's like a -"YES!" moment for the photographers! :-)

@rainsocks: Absolutely...It's the shots like this that keep me coming back! :)
Sorry I didn't get here yesterday...
Great shot as always...The emotion caught here in the "soon-to-be" husband is fabulous...I think it says so much that a man is moved to tears by the woman he loves so deeply...It truly is a thing of beauty:)
Wonderful work!

Hi again, Mandy. In your reply to me, above, you said: "...what would you use to convert it? Do you need special software? I'm a major amateur when it comes to file formats etc.....I shoot everything as jpeg!!! :)"
In a case such as this present one, jpeg was certainly good enough for your purposes. There must be a RAW converter for your Nikon DSLR on the discs that came with it. This would be the starting point to try it out. There are other RAW converters available, such as Capture One from www.phaseone.com, for example, or Adobe RAW, which comes with Photoshop. In the case of Canon (which I use), I've found that BreezeBrowser from www.breezesys.com is absolutely magical in removing noise at the highest ISO settings without destroying fine detail at all. They do seem to be focused on Canon, though, and I don't know if it will do the same for Nikon. I cannot reallly recomend BreezeBrowser as a converter for regular use, though, as it does not let you make adjustments to individual files one at a time, while processing continually in the background as all other good RAW converters do. Processing each RAW shot one at a time and waiting the 20 or 30 seconds till it's finished before you can go on to the next one, is totally ridiculous. I have no idea how Breeze Systems can thing that this is acceptable to paying customers!
With RAW, you'll have an extra step to go through, and this might seem to slow you down, at least at first, although you will be working with a file that has all the original information straight off the camera sensor. In short, this means you can even save quite a bad exposure because you have so much leeway.
For the moment, I'd suggest doing some searches on Google using phrases such as "RAW files", "RAW digital", "RAW digital tutorial". I just tried, and these bring up lots of results. You can also try "RAW processors compared" for information on these.
Just something to think about, then, and if I can help further in any way, don't hesitiate to ask. Andrew.
